    Borzoi
    Born as a purebred canine, Benedict's true heritage can be found amongst a line of proud hunting dogs dubbed Borzoi. Though his body is now interchangeable between beast and human, his oldest memories hailed from years of feral instinct, well-trained and governed by the will of his late masters. His most vivid and fondest memories of this period resided with his time spent with the young Lady Harriet, whose untimely demise at the hands of her own father devastated the dog beyond repair. Remaining ever loyal to his companion and refusing the leave girl's graveside at the rear of the manor, the dog soon felt age creep upon him. However, death did not greet him; rather, a deep shadow conjured by his ceaseless mourning enclosed around him and rebirthed him as something else.

    The Church Grim - commonly mistaken for a Black Dog - is a being which oversees and guards grave sites and churchyards. It is the finality of Benedict's now ethereal existence; a form which unleashes itself upon the threatening or defilement of the welfare his beloved Harriet's grave. Though Benedict is able to interchange between dog and human and will, the shroud of the Church Grim arises only upon bouts of territorial urges, protectiveness or anger. In this state of being and mind, Benedict holds power over several potent abilities and talents.

    Abilities

    ♦ Fur Tendrils: Shadow-stained fur extends into whip-like tendrils, often thorny in texture and especially present around the tail and hackles. They possess latent strength and can be weaponized through methods of laceration and asphyxiation.
    ♦ Shadow-Walking: Darkness bleeds into darkness as Benedict demonstrates the ability to melt into the shadows, reappearing in shaded areas at will through the use of a unique pocket dimension. When asked about the properties of this dimension, Benedict does nought but shake his head and dismiss the questioning as a "prelude to a nightmare."
    ♦ Regeneration: Deep wounds and severs are easily mended by the threading and mending of torn shadows.
    ♦ Screech: Rivalled only by the fabled Banshee, the Church Grim is capable of emitting an ear-piercing screech; a violent introduction to ensuing terror.
